Retrograde Planet(s) and Mundane Affairs

Retrogression:  An apparent backward motion of the planets is called a "retrograde" motion. It occurs in several stages. At first the planet seems to stand still, then it backs up through the signs, stands still again, and then resumes its forward motion. The amount of time that a planet spends in retrograde motion depends on the planet's orbit, varying from about twenty-two days for nearby Mercury to about 140 days for distant Saturn.
A retrograde planet prolongs the influence of that planet in its sign and house of a horoscope. If that influence happens to be an unpleasant one, the prolonged unpleasantness will be blamed on that retrograde condition.
The Sun and Moon are never in retrograde motion.
All the planets, whether inferior or superior while moving in their orbit reaches a particular positions in its orbit, where from the point of view of on observer on Earth, the planet will slow down in its direct motion; becomes stationary in the sky, and then appear to yes appears to reverse the direction of its motion in moving backwards in the sky. It is this latter motion which we call retrograde motion.
Saturn is retrograde for 140 days/year and stationary apprx. 5 days before & after.
Jupiter is retrograde for 120 days/ year and stationary apprx. 5 days before & after.
Mars is retrograde for 80 days and is stationary apprx. 2 or 3 days before & after.
Venus is retrograde for 42 days and is stationary apprx. 2 days before & after.
Mercury is retrograde for 24 days (three times in a year) and is stationary apprx. 1 day before & after.

The reason for this apparent retrograde movement of planets varies. For the inferior planets, Mercury and Venus, when they are between earth and the Sun, they appear to move retrograde; however, when they are on the other side of the sun (Sun is between the planet and earth), they appear direct.
Superior planets, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are retrograde when they are in signs opposite to the Sun, in other words, when they are just ahead of the earth

RETROGRADE SATURN
Saturn stands for labour and matters connected with them, mustard oil and other edible oils, cement and steel. It also represents land and buildings, crops, democracy, grains, transport, elderly people, skin, animals hides, leather and insurance.

India got freedom on Aug. 15, 1947. Based on the time of independence, Taurus ascendant was rising. Saturn is the lord of the 9th and the l0th house and is yogakarka for Taurus ascendant.

The 9th house rules the foreign affairs, country's export and import and the religious issue of the country. Saturn also represents the backward classes. It also rules over Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) as they have many employees and Saturn represents them.

Any planet posited in its own house has to boost up the affairs connected with that house and also its significations. But the retrograde planet acts like the reverse gear of the car and instead of promoting the affairs of that house, it withdraws its properties.
