Rohini Vaas / Samudra Chakra

 In Samundra Chakra ( Sea Chart) 28 Nakshtras are used  i.e. Abhijit is also included. Note the Nakshtra / Constellation of Moon on the day of Sun`s ingress into Aries (i.e. Mesha Sankranti). Starting from it 2x4 = 8 Nakshtra are earmarked for sea, 2x4 =8 for Sea Shore, 1x4=4 for Mountains, and 2x4 = 8 for Junction (sandhi) thus 28 constellations are established. The place where Rohini is established is called Rohini vasa or Rohini Residence.

Rohini Vaas is a unique method of predicting the quantity of rainfall. It has first found mention in the classical text ‘Varsh Prabhodh’.

This Chakra is based on the tide factor. It is well known fact that the tides follow the Moon, and height of the tide is proportional to the gravitational pull of the Moon. On days of the Full Moon, the gravitational pull of the Moon is maximum, resulting in the highest tides. Thus the moon indicates the tide and consequential, rainfall.

In this system, a chart having 28 houses is drawn as depicted in the diagram above.

A simplified version of the chart is drawn below, the applicability is the same. Here the various houses are distributed amongst four contenders, viz. the Sea, Seashore, Junction and Mountain. Please note that while the Sea, Seashore and Junction get eight houses each, the Mountain get only four houses.

Consider the Nakshtra at the time of Sun’s ingress into Aries (i.e. the Nakshtra which the Moon was transiting at the time of Mesha Sanskranti), and mark it on the starting house owned by Sea -#1). The remaining 28 Nakshtra (including Abhijit), are marked sequentially, in the clockwise direction.

The all-important Nakshtra is Rohini: –

• If it happens to land in a house owned by the ‘Sea’, then there will be abundant rains in the coming rainy season.
• If Rohini happens to land on a ‘Seashore’ house, it indicates sufficient rainfall, giving good crop.
• Rohini’s placement in ‘Junction’ house indicative of scanty and untimely rain.
• While in the ‘Mountain’ house, it signifies rain only on the mountains with very little or no rain on the plains.

Residence of Time: 

• If residence of Rohini is in sea then Time resides at Gardener`s house
• If its in Junction (sandhi) then time resides at trader`s home.
• If on mountain, then time resides at potter`s house.
• If at sea shore the time resides at washer man’s house.

Calculation of Rohini Vasa

Now, let us take the example for the Samvat 2073 (year 2016), the solar ingress into Aries / Mesha Sankranti falls on 13th April 2016 at 19:47 Hour. At that time Moon occupies Punar Vasu Nakshtra.
So mark Punar vasu on the starting position (Sea #1) of the Chakra, counting from this up to Rohini Nakshtra in the clockwise direction, we find that it falls in 26th house i.e. Mountain.

This indicates heavy rainfall in mountain part of the country with less rain in the plains. This shows that reservoirs of the dams will be filled and great production of electric energy is expected.

Another way to calculate Rohini Vasa
On Mesha Sankranti day count from Moon Nakshtra up to Rohini Nakshtra and divide it by 7 and study the remainder.
If Remainder is 1 or 2 the result shows Rohini Vasa in Sea.
If Remainder is 3 or 7 then the Rohini Vasa is at Sea Shore.
If Remainder is 4 or 6 then the Rohini Vasa is at Junction.
If Remainder is 5 then the Rohini Vasa is at Mountain.
On Mesha Sankranti of Samvat 2073 Moon occupies Punar Vasu Nakshtra so counting up to Rohini Nakshtra and dividing it by 7 we get:
No. of Nakshtra Punar Vasu to Rohini is 26
26 / 7 then Remainder = 5 means Vasa of Rohini is on Mountains

Rohini Vasa Phala:

Rohini Vasa on Mountain indicates good rain in hilly area and less rain in plains.

The drinking water, ground water and other natural sources of water will be reduced.

Lesser rains will impact the production of fruits and vegetables, rice grains, fodder and cereals and inflation may rise. 

In general, there will be progress.
